Nursery Program
Pratham instructors work directly with children in the nursery model. Nurseries are preschool classrooms housed in Delhi Municipal Corporation schools. The nursery curriculum is modeled around the development of key abilities along with relevant skills to support the child’s growth. A daily planner is provided to each instructor, and children are also exposed to a rich variety of text in the form of different kinds of story books and picture cards. Nurseries focus on key developmental domains, and emergent literacy and numeracy skills. Pratham content is presented through workbooks which are given to children on a rotational basis throughout the year to ensure that every child eventually covers all activities in the workbook.
In Pratham-supported nurseries, Pratham instructors work within MCD schools with children who are at least 4 years old. The Pratham instructor conducts daily activities with children for 2 to 2.5 hours for the duration of the school year.
