The Mohalla Library Initiative aims to bring together various community members and allow them to be part of their children’s learning process. Hence, the library is run by local volunteers, who are mothers, family members, youth within the community or other community members. These volunteers spend 1 hour each day reading out stories, encouraging children to read and narrate stories and carrying out art and craft activities with children. The Initiative is designed to be conducted in and around public spaces such as streets, stairs, parks, temples, mosques, community halls and other spaces such as within homes and on rooftops.
